Our Story

The Ted Warthen Center Foundation is a
tax-exempt non-profit organization recognized under section 501(cX3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It was organized and operates exclusively as a charitable organization with the sole purpose of financially assisting individuals diagnosed with a terminal illness who may be in hospice care or the last six months of life. This tax-exempt status means the Ted Warthen Center Foundation is eligible to receive
tax-deductible contributions. Through the generosity of Cedar City, Utah native and philanthropic businessman John Edward “Ted” Warthen and his family trust,
a legacy was established in 1998 by building a state-of-the art care facility designed for terminally ill patients. However, with changes in health care, regulatory demands and the economic environment in 2008, it was voted by the Board of Directors that the 12 bed facility be leased to nursing care professionals and
